An architect-designed house in the Perche region for a complete immersion in nature

Set in the hills of the Perche region, this architect-designed house plays with light and the landscape. Thanks to its large bay windows, it blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The eye is drawn towards the horizon, whilst the wood in every room brings a great deal of warmth. Its elongated silhouette and sloping roof evoke a reimagined barn. The façades alternate between light wood and dark cladding, creating a striking contrast. Generous openings onto the natural surroundings are like a series of ever-changing paintings as the seasons pass.

 

The tour

Inside, wood dominates throughout, creating a warm atmosphere. The plywood walls enhance the natural light. The living room is centred around a stove, a real gathering point on cooler days. Its open-plan kitchen, with its central island and its wood and stainless steel design, invites you to cook whilst keeping an eye on the landscape. The house has three bedrooms, true havens of tranquillity that open out onto the outdoors. Each room enjoys a direct view of the trees and hills. The bathroom is irresistible, with its bath facing the garden. Slipping into the warm water here becomes a contemplative experience.

The house’s lines are understated and blend seamlessly into the landscape. It seems as though it has always been there. The project is based on a simple approach, using natural materials and a design philosophy that respects the site, in line with an eco-responsible approach. Wood dominates, complemented by raw concrete and a few subtle metallic touches. This house prioritises light, space and a direct connection with the surrounding environment. Located in Moûtiers-au-Perche, around two hours from Paris, it offers the perfect setting to disconnect from city life.
